AAU status is overblown junk also.

AAU schools think of themselves as something superior, but for the most part they are not. It's a self fulfilling prophecy.

AAU membership is "special" because only a small number of schools are in it. If it's exclusive, it must be special right? So if the AAU schools let in any school that is just as good as any current member school, then the AAU membership get larger. If the AAU membership is larger, it's not as exclusive, is it? Therefore not as special, right?
